Hey readers! We hope you are all healthy and well. For those of you itching for a vacation, you may want to consider a trip to the beautiful city of Zürich. With the gorgeous Alps in sight, and the Limmat glimmering in the sun, Zürich is quite picturesque - especially at this time of year.
Keep on reading to hear our tips and recommendations for the perfect Swiss vacay!!
1. Booking a hotel
The hotel you stay in has a lot to do with your overall vacation experience. We recommend booking a hotel with a good amount of amenities, because this will allow you to have quality downtime.
The Dolder Grand
This is our favourite Zürich hotel because it has lots of amenities such as a spa including a pool, a hot tub, a gym, and many treatments; a sports centre with an outdoor pool, a 9 hole golf course, tennis courts, and much more; a restaurant that serves all 3 meals of the day; a bar with every drink you can imagine; and tons of forest trails. As well, the rooms in addition to the hotel itself are extremely elegant, and the customer service is fantastic. While The Dolder Grand is definitely at the pricier end of hotels, it's so worth the money.
Although The Dolder Grand is a fabulous hotel, we understand that it might be out of your price range. Here are some websites you can take a look at for mid-range and budget friendly hotels in Zürich:
2. Eating like a king
Eating at amazing restaurants is what takes a vacation from good to great. To make it easy for you to book restaurants, we have compiled a list of our favourite places to eat in Zürich.
Co Chin Chin 9.7/10 Gasometerstrasse 7
This restaurant arguably serves the best Vietnamese food in all of Zürich, and we have to agree. Co Chin Chin has everything you could ask for; scrumptious food, great service, and a super cool vibe.
Santa Lucia 8.4/10 Waaggasse 5
Located in Zürich's Old Town, Santa Lucia is a cute Italian restaurant with an amazing menu, and beautiful scenery. They serve Italian classics that are done to perfection.
Restaurant Saltz (only available if you are staying at The Dolder Grand) 8.8/10 Kurhausstrasse 65
For Dolder guests, this restaurant is not only convenient, but luxurious. Saltz starts the day off with an enormous buffet, as well as an excellent menu, making it number one in the breakfast game. Then, they serve lunch and dinner, offering guests a diverse menu with dishes from all over the world.
Restaurant Storchen 9/10 Weinpl. 2
Situated just outside of charming Hotel Storchen, this restaurant serves simple food that has been elevated. Not only is the food delicious, but the ambiance is gorgeous too.
Wirtschaft Degenried 8.7/10 Degenriedstrasse 135
This restaurant is off the beaten path, as the only way to get to it is by walking along forest trails. At first glance it looks like a cozy cottage in the woods, but it's actually one of the best traditional Swiss restaurants.
Klingler's Ristorante 9.5/10 Münzpl. 3
Nestled in Zürich's Old Town, this restaurant is sheltered from the hustle and bustle of the city, which gives it a great atmosphere. Klingler's prides itself on being an authentic Italian restaurant, with killer food, and great service.
Chez Fritz 9.5/10 Seestrasse 195b, 8802 Kilchberg
This restaurant is unlike any other. The menu includes dishes from every corner of the earth, making it unique and interesting. It is a quaint restaurant on the pier of Lake Zürich, and the view is breathtaking.
Adlisberg 9.8/10 Adlisbergstrasse 75
This restaurant is without a doubt our favourite in all of Zürich. It is truly a hidden gem, as it is a farmhouse that has been converted to a restaurant. If you're looking for a traditional Swiss meal, this is definitely the place to go - the wait staff even dress in lederhosen! What makes this restaurant special is that the menu includes a list of meats that you can cook yourself on a hot stone. In our opinion, food always tastes better when you cook it yourself.
